TRAUMA & EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Wildfires can have a significant impact on emotional health, both for those directly affected by the fire and for people who are witnessing the devastation from afar.

People may feel a sense of shock, grief, and sadness as they see their homes and belongings destroyed. This can also lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair as they try to rebuild their lives. Feelings of anxiousness and stress may emerge. This fear can also be heightened by the unpredictable nature of wildfires, as they can quickly spread and change direction.

In addition, the smoke and ash from wildfires can worsen air quality and create respiratory issues, which can also impact emotional well-being.

It is important for individuals to seek support from loved ones, mental health professionals, and community resources to cope with the emotional effects of these disasters.
